Okay, I love Lacie Waldon. From the Jump was a 5-star read for me. This book, however, fell short. Only Game in Town is listed as a romance, yet there is none. Instead, the story centers around a small town coming together as a family. While the story's premise is unique, every other chapter is a different character's POV leading to a lack of depth for the main characters. The book's ending was anticlimactic, and I felt no closure for any of the characters. I will, of course, still read Lacies' books in the future, but this one was for someone else.

I received this ARC in return for an honest review. Thank you, Netgalley and G.P. Putnam's Sons for this book.

I’m somewhere between 4 and 4.5⭐️ I really enjoyed the story and I did laugh out loud many times so I think I’ll be leaning towards 4.5!
Loved the story and loved the ending. Small town stories that involve more than 2 character perspective. Which is new to me but I think that’s why I enjoyed it a lot.

I am a big Lacie Waldon fan! I really enjoyed The Layover and From the Jump, and was excited to dig into her latest. Big thanks to Putnam and Netgalley for the ARC.

While I enjoyed this one, it took me a bit to get into it and I wanted to like it more. It had so many great elements - a small town, a handsome outsider who arrives, a strong relationship between our leading lady and her father, and a townwide competition. I think where it fell a little flat to me was that it tried to do too much and I struggled to get invested in anything because I was being pulled in so many directions.

The idea of a townwide competition, where folks are paired up and the prize is $10M through a variety of quirky and wild tasks is a great one! But there were SO many side characters and conflicts to detangle, that it made it hard to really enjoy.

A good book for when you want a feel-good read: set in a small town with a cast of characters, it's easy to enjoy the romanticization of a life where everyone knows everything about you. Think Stars Hollow of Gilmore Girls. Charming and a little silly.

The worst part? This book is hardly a romance. The romance storyline is just that: a storyline. It's enjoyable to see the interest and connection grow, but it hardly felt like the focus of the book. It was watered down by too many other characters and their backstories, redemption arcs, and POVs.

At first, The Only Game in Town was tough for me to get into because the story builds slowly. It was the perfect plane read, as I was a captive audience, and I bet it would be a good beach read: easy to pick up and put down, and nothing too heavy for a vacation.

*Disclaimer: I won a Kindle copy of this book as a Goodreads giveaway. This review is fully my own.*

This book just made me so unbelievably happy. I can’t explain it. I just utterly fell in love with this amazing small town cast of characters. I adore Waldon’s writing style!! Her words felt like a big hug on ever page. This book also gave me major Gilmore Girls vibes and was just fun and heartfelt from start to finish. It’s not a typical romance, but it is absolutely full of love. Please read this!!

This was a heartwarming, funny, feel-good, small town romance that sees the residents of Redford, Georgia paired up to compete for a 10 million dollar bequest. The catch? They have to work together with their assigned partner and figure out a way to get along as they compete in a series of challenges.

Full of heart, this book had me smiling the whole way through and gave off great Stars Hollow vibes! If you like low steam love stories full of a quirky cast of characters this book totally delivers, with one of the most unique plots I've read in a while.

Great on audio with a full cast of excellent narrators. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and @prhaudio for an early ALC. This was by far my favorite book by Lacie Waldon to date and I can't recommend it enough, especially for fans of Christina Lauren's Something wilder.
