I really don't see what the big deal is about this manga. It's just..meh for me. I tried reading it after this sociopathic, misanthropic, dry, sardonic, assholeish senior in my AP US History class was heard by me talking and discussing about it. Usually people who watch anime or read manga talk about stuff I know a little bit about, or whatever. But I wanted to see what this was about.

Meh. Who cares? Really, it doesn't...I don't like it. At all. To me it's subpar on my scale of "Interestingness of Manga". I really could read more engaging or really... I mean, I've read probably 2 and a half of these, but Deadman Wonderland gets REALLY QUICK with the disturbing psychological mindf*cks. I don't want slow, Death Note "bait and switch" "AHA YOU FELL INTO MY TRAP!" or "I AM CRAZY AHAHAHAAHAH!" without a quick backstory or reasoning. I don't want the "truth" to be revealed 50 chapters in. It just makes the craziness unbearable and downright annoying.

Ooooh! This is good!! Reading the volume 2 now!

I picked this up because of the Death Note comparisons but they really aren't very similar at all. The tone is extremely juvenile, the characters might as well be playing video games for all the complexity the premise is played for. I don't exactly dislike it but I won't be putting any effort into finding more volumes either. 2.5 stars

A very [b:Death Note|13615|Death Note, Volume 1 Boredom|Tsugumi Ohba|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255641100s/13615.jpg|1782155]-y manga with touches of [b:Battle Royale|57891|Battle Royale|Koushun Takami|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1266461715s/57891.jpg|2786327]. A mysterious diary that tells the future and a group of twelve participants in a battle to the death. Sounds just a touch familiar, mm? But it's a good manga all the same, and against my better judgement, I do really like Yuno, Yuki's obsessed stalker. And then there's Minene, her fabulous dress, despite being a job that would probably lend itself better to simple slacks. But hey, a Lolita has to do what a Lolita has to do, right?

I'll probably be on the hunt for the second volume in this series.
