This Miss Marple mystery was not particularly striking and seemed to drag on too long with all the sleuthing rabbit trails that went nowhere, but I guessed the murderer halfway through and was terribly pleased with myself.

Great in an audiobook. Then again, I love Agatha Christie in all forms!

A friend of Miss Marple's witnesses a murder on a train that is briefly running parallel to her own. Deeply disturbed, she notifies the authorities (and Miss Marple, of course), but no body is ever discovered & the police are unwilling to pursue what appear to be the ravings of a delusional little old lady. Miss Marple knows her friend as, not unkindly, one who doesn't have enough of an imagination to create such a fantastical event, so she calls upon friends with knowledge of the tracks, friends with access to topographical maps, and Lucy, a very industrious & intelligent young woman who offers all-inclusive but very expensive services as a domestic laborer. Miss Marple finds the estate upon which the body was likely dumped from the moving train, rents a room in the small town nearby and succeeds in getting Lucy hired at the estate. The game is afoot! Although, in this case, it's much more similar to Nero Wolf than Sherlock Holmes...with Miss Marple having Lucy do all the footwork. Once the body is discovered (of course it is!), members of the household start falling sick and dying from arsenic poisoning.

I see that this one was also turned into a tv movie. I'll have to try looking it up.
