unbearable FMC pining over a lame ass dude when suddenly the perfect man shows up

Super steamy romance novel. I'm a little over the inexperienced gal/experienced guy trope, but the story was cute and treated all characters humanely.

Totally not book related, but let the records show that I hate this book cover. The end.

loved this, very solid 4/5. i liked the arc of the characters, and their growth, it felt real and well timed.

I don't know, I liked it. I was hesitant to pick it up because of the lower rating than what I usually read and the not so great things I've heard, but I'm trying to read books I actually have on my TBR, not just random ones I see once on Instagram, and this one was on my TBR for a while, so I tried it and enjoyed it.
I thought the chemistry was there, the steamy scenes were truly steamy, I liked the plot, the business they came up with, it was cool. The last portion of the book was annoying, yeah, but the conflict was to be expected. I liked how it was resolved.
A quick read and one book off my TBR, yay.

SO GOOD. I loved the dynamic, the banter, the steam, and even the B plot (usually I don’t care about this in romance novels, but a woman-led, sex-positive takedown of Big Porn? Sign me up!). So charming and delightful, and the fact that so many of the sex scenes were plays on stereotypical porn plots had me cackling.

The Roommate has significantly more depth than many romance novels currently available. While it delivers the expected spice, it also offers intricate backstories, genuine character development, and a shared goal that extends beyond just physical attraction or romance. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with substance and heat.

If you see my roommate listing on Craigslist… no you didn’t

I had a really good time with this book, and I found myself not only wanting to put it down. The chemistry was electric and the characters were really developed, I just really enjoyed it.

This is a romance, so the chemistry and the relationship between the characters is really important, and this did it for me. While this did have insta-lust it wasn’t insta-love and that differentiation is really important for my enjoyment of a dynamic. Him walking in on her watching him? Incredible, but also he let her take the lead with her boundaries and didn’t push her when she wasn’t ready. I never love a 3rd act break up, and I think this one was a little much, Josh really pushed on every single insecurity she had and yes he went and sorted out his relationships but I think he needed to be the one to make the grand gesture not Clara.

I think this is also a book that has an important point of view, specifically on the porn industry both in how the performers are treated and how politicians will base their platform off it either with little knowledge or with little actual involvement. Making Toni have to face that she can’t use it as her platform if she was willing to fire Clara for her connection to it. Shameless was also such a great way of engaging with the topic, especially because Clara was an outsider to the industry and wasn’t accustomed to the attitude or environment.
