I loved this book as a kid — which in hindsight makes sense. It’s basically Alice in Wonderland for massive nerds. I think it mostly holds up, but it’s definitely old-fashioned and very didactic. Super imaginative though!

10/12/22: Read this aloud with my son. It’s a great readaloud, full of adventure and fun. We both enjoyed it.
1st reread: Well. I re-read this book, and it is nice to know it is still awesome. Really clever, funny, witty... I think it's probably a book for older kids, because a lot would go over younger children's heads. It reminds the reader to pay attention to the little things and to choose one's words and actions wisely.

I loved this book as a child and, returning at 33 years old, I love this just as much as an adult!
This is a book that should be handed to children the first time they say, "I'm bored," over summer vacation. I recently re-read it, and while I can't say that I had any new insights into it, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Think "Alice in Wonderland" in feel. BUT, add in longer-running and more coherent puns. And they come CONSTANTLY.
This book is amazing. I picked it up rather randomly at a $5 bag sale at my library, and it took months to get around to it. Having done so, I am now keeping my eyes out for other copies in the future, and I am going to mail these to all of the nieces and nephews! It's so clever, and I'm sure it will warrant multiple readings throughout their lives, each one revealing more than the previous reading.
So highly recommended. I could see this as a perfect component of a school curriculum.
