I read this on the suggestion of my 10 year old! She read it for school and loved it. I also loved it! The writing was so unique, fun, and just lovely. And it was very profound. I’m sure lots of that is lost on 5th graders reading for class, but glad they have that knowledge somewhere in their heads
A delightfully whimsical adventure full of nonsense and puns
Fun children's book, comparable to [b:Alice's Adventures in Wonderland|2647293|Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, #1)|Lewis Carroll|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1389443668l/2647293._SY75_.jpg|55548884]. Lots of puns that will go over a child’s head but makes it fun for the parent. My favorite part is probably:
"Oh dear, all those words again," thought Milo as he climbed into the wagon with Tock and the cabinet members. "How are you going to make it move? It doesn't have a—"
"Be very quiet," advised the duke, "for it goes without saying."
And, sure enough, as soon as they were all quite still, it began to move through the streets, and in a very short time they arrived at the royal palace.
I'll just use one word and all it's synonyms to describe this book.
Genius.
Genius.
Absolutely great book for young and old. It reminds me of a more accessible version of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho in that the main character has to experience life and adventure to understand basic life lessons.
My daughter and I read this together this year. She was 10 and we both loved this story. Amazingly, tucked in amongst this fun story are hidden some great vocabulary builders, literary devices and even some maths. This is a great book for 10 to 12 year olds, and adults will also enjoy it.

I really wish I had read this book as a child! It was very sweet and funny and clever. The ending made me tear up because I'm a baby
