This book was amazing. I've never read any sort of murder mystery or crime novel before and this book was incredible. I must admit, I read this book in a matter of a day and a half and stayed up much to late reading it.
First of all, I really loved how this book was written with Pip's journal/notes making up a large part of the writing. The way the book was narrarated was incredibly real and nothing about the characters, setting or plot felt fake or forced at all.
Second of all, the plot twists and writing through out the novel gave me shivers multiple times. It was scary at times and I loved it!
This book was not slow at all amd as I mentioned before, it had me from the first page till the end, which did not disappoint.
I definitely would recommend this book to anyone, regardless of their experience with murder, crime or mystery novels! It's amazing!

A super fast-paced and fun murder mystery that definitely helped me on my journey to get out of this damn reading slump!

While solving the murder itself was engaging, I think the characterization was lacking. Pip has no discernible qualities besides an insatiable need to solve crime, and there’s no compelling motivation for why she is this way besides that she always felt like something was off about the case. Her friendship with Ravi was endearing on the surface, but it had no substance to get me emotionally invested.

I did clock Mr. Ward as the killer pretty early on, but then forgot about it until Pip found the note in her locker. Thank god there was a follow-up twist after Pip turned him in—I would’ve been far more disappointed in the ending had Mr. Ward been the only killer.

I felt like the end was a little clunky and just very
“oh no you caught me I did it here’s my whole plan and story laid out bit by bit” which just doesn’t seem realistic I guess?? Like unless it’s the cops questioning you? Idk. I was also a bit I guess disappointed in Pip after what happens with Barney I thought she’d be super pissed and use it like a revenge moment instead of stopping the investigation. I guess I read her character wrong? She just seemed very steadfast and headstrong with everything else, it was weird for her to suddenly stop I think
overall a very fun and entertaining time however

Ending was action-packed and left me intrigued enough that I might eventually read the next book, but it took me over half the book to really get into it.  Some parts were pretty dark too (content warnings are the most I can do without completely spoiling it --- it was just overall a very tense and very sad read at times).  Plot twists surrounding the investigation were fun, though.
