I might go back to this but it wasn't what I wanted at the time.

The writing style just didn’t work for me.. I wish the author was a bit more illustrative. I don't want to feel like I’m reading a book, I want to feel like I’m experiencing it.

This was fantastic and creative. There were many references to people not included as saints that I recognized. It makes me wonder how many I missed. I learned a lot reading this book, and I have an idea or two for cocktails to try.

Confusing with fictional storyline. Possibly better with just the very interesting “saints.” Or two separate books.

I recognize this is historical fiction, but I feel like it could easily be classified under history. It's been a while since I've read a book that had me going to Google as often as I did in order to watch video clips, read Wikipedia articles, and listen to music of the various people referred to in this book. I learned quite a bit. But heaven help the book club that takes on the various "Libations for the Saints." Have your Uber drivers lined up!

Struggled to finish this one. The format - a Saints Day Book, with short chapters each about a different historical person - made it difficult for me to stay engaged; I wanted more of a traditional narrative and character development. Ended up having a good book club discussion, though (2 people loved, 2 hated, 1 mixed).
