Very well written. Hard to read at some parts due to the abuse. I would recommend going into this book without prior knowledge.
I knew that she eventually left, which I feel ruined the anticipation. I did find it shocking that she wasn’t the first in her family to leave. Definitely changed the story, as it shaped her experience.

I was bored and lost interest super fast. Slow pace and I rather have fun with my readings.

This was another audiobook-required-to-finish-it book for me this year. I read the first 30 or 40 pages on Kindle but couldn’t stay focused, so I rented the audiobook and FLEW through it. Did I read Reddit theories to patch in parts I missed?? Absolutely. This was still a fantastic read. I enjoyed the plot twist at the end revealing you-know-what, and honestly, I probably should’ve seen it coming sooner. Fantastic writing from the perspective of someone descending into madness… or rather someone at the hands of severe mental illness?? Regardless, Mona Awad slayed with this, and Samantha Hanratty NEEDS to play a role if this ever hits screenwriters. Side note: When playing Sophie Amoss’ reading on Audible at 3x speed, she sounded like Peyton List, and I could only imagine her speaking. It was so frustrating.

Super powerful memoir. I found myself feeling super tense/scared/mad and realizing this actually happened really amplified those emotions.

Stunning, fascinating, sad. Couldn’t believe some of the stories. A painful read at times. Beautiful writing.
