My least favorite so far? The Veto situation just makes me sad and it gives me verguenza ajena that she thought he actually came back. I still love my badass Jimena and I love how her instinct was to go back to "la vida" but she stopped herself and grew

these books were my sailor moon

There were a lot of Word For Word repeats/reminders. Nearly an entire page of straight copy and paste. And there are a lot of sections in Spanish that do not always give you English context to let you know what was being said. Definitely the hardest book to read so far of the series.

What is with the glitter?!

Like the other books, this was good, a bit more grittier than its predecessors. This book dives into Jimena's world and confronting her past about Veto. It uses a ton of Spanish terms which made this perspective truly Jimena's and no one else's which was pretty cool.

Though my only caveat is when the book plot holes itself saying that
Spoiler Jimena no longer has her power because it was stolen. She then says that she has the power within herself all along. But then 10 pages later says she needs to get her power back.
Felt like this was way too indecisive what Ewing was going for and could have been revised easily in the 3rd draft.

All in all, still a great book and can't wait to read the next one!

This series is the equivalent of a mythological music video. It has beautiful imagery, some substance (but definitely not too much), and a super simplistic writing style. But the nostalgia is so real and my 30s-year-old self loves it just as much as the 12 year old me that wanted desperately to be a badass goddess of the moon. It's absolutely terrible and I freaking love it so much.
