A short story, 6.5, in the Lucky Harbor romance series. The couple focus is on Mia and Nick.

My Take
Oh, wow, it starts all sweet and wonderful, then quickly hits a drop. When Nick tries to make up for it, Mia doesn't do the usual giving-in, she's firm about there not being a future and he has to prove that they have one.

Very sweet with a full range of emotion as Shalvis provides the background on both Mia's and Nick's distant past as well as their romantic one and includes just enough on her family that brings this short story to life with the love of family and friends in a short 49 pages.

Considering how short the story is and how much ground Shalvis covers, I was impressed that nothing feels rushed about this, unless it's Nick's quick realization about what's important in life!

The Story
Mia's excited. She's bought Nick a ticket to come home with her, meet her birth parents. Experience a real family. A real Christmas.

Nick's gotten the job he's dreamed of. The one that will have him traveling for the next two years all over the country.

The Characters
Mia is a student in NYC and heading home to Lucky Harbor for Chloe's wedding over Christmas Eve. Maddie and Jax Sawyer are her adoptive parents. Three-year-old Sierra and three-month-old Ryder are her younger siblings. Tara and Ford Walker are the birth parents she met when she sought them out at seventeen.

Aunt Chloe and Sheriff Sawyer Thompson have been together for five years and Chloe has the baby bug, so they're getting married over Christmas Eve.

Carlos is her ex-boyfriend with a sudden urge to get back together. Theresa is the one who is reaping what Mia taught Carlos.

Nick is the boyfriend who's studying to be a lawyer. Both are orphans, but Nick has had to fight his way for everything.

The Cover
The cover definitely has the Christmas touch as Mia, with the huge bunch of mistletoe in hand, and Nick embrace in the blowing snow.

The title is a giveaway for all the time these two spend Under the Mistletoe.

Great Addition to the Series
3.5 stars. This was a cute but short read in the Lucky Harbor series. Mia has really grown up and is finally finding her own true love. I had held out hope that Carlos and she would hook up but i think i may have missed a previous novella with his love story in it. I am glad they both found their perfect partners though.
Mia and Nick were a good pair once they both accepted that not everyone deals with their shortcomings at the same speed or in the same way. There was some intensely sensual scenes between Mia and Nick and i enjoyed seeing her embrace her sexuality.
It was also great to see the original three troublemakers and their husbands, as well as their kids and the way they are together.
I look forward to more of the lucky harbor series and seeing Mia all grown up.

I love this series. This was a case of a story without a point. There wasn't enough substance to even make a short epilogue much less a novella. I really love Jill Shalvis, and some of my favorite books have been hers. But this should not have been a novella that you should need to pay for. I was excited to read this and to have another taste of Lucky Harbor, but this was unfortunately very disappointing. Bummer.

This is Mia’s (Tara & Ford’s daughter) story. Mia is all grown up and living in NY. She has been seeing Nick for 6 months and is hurt when he refuses to go to Lucky Harbor with her for Sawyer & Chloe’s wedding over Christmas. Nick follows Mia and finds out that love and family isn't something to be afraid of and just might be worth fighting for.
This short Christmas tale had me laughing and crying in true Shalvis style.

In this short tale we see an older Mia who has returned home after a romance goes wrong. She is hoping to recover and move on but Nick her ex has followed her to her hometown and plans to win her back.

This is a cute story for the holidays and we get to see Mia as an adult.

It was so nice reading about Mia. We hadn't really seen her since Tara and Ford's story. Seeing how she has lived and grown up and now in a relationship that she thought was going somewhere only to find she was wrong was like coming full circle. Lovely and a little snippet in to Lucky Harbor that I'm already missing since I've finished the series.
