disorganized thoughts and non-verbatim quotes:

1. monologues that go on for 5 pages are boring
2. "are women human beings?" a character within the book asks. "no," the prose responds, having all women either be old hags or hot 18 year old love interests, fainting constantly, dialogue tags consisting of "shrieking" and "screaming"
3. the jokes about america were funny ("if it's wrong to eavesdrop but fine to crack skulls open, go to america!")
4. razumikhin was my favorite character
5. as a first-timer for russian lit + beginning my exploration in classics... i gotta say, everyone having 5 different names *sucked* to get used to.
6. "[marfa petrovna] had quite simply fallen in love - literally fallen in love - with your sister." russian lesbians!

that's all. i feel underwhelmed. onto nabokov or something
