5 spicy stars to Blood on the Tide, a great second installment in Katee Robert's Crimson Sails series.
*
I love Katee's books, they're fun and steamy romps steeped in folklore that suck me in from the first page and don't let up until I close the book, and this book is no exception to that. I really enjoyed the first one in this series and was very excited to pick up the next one - I wanted to know what was going to happen with Lizzie and her hunt for her family heirlooms.
*
Lizzie was a very cool vampire, with the power to bring true pleasure with her bite, but Maeve was my favourite. A selkie whose had her skin stolen, she was both soft and strong, determined and able to take care of herself. The chemistry between them is electric and the steamy scenes were fantastic (as Robert's tend to be).
*
I love the world building in this series; the Threshold is set up in such a unique way that it could be a fountain of stories. The blend of folklores and magic powers make for fascinating heroes and villains. I hope there are many more in this series as they are a blast.
*
I highly recommend this series (And all of Katee Robert's works) - they're fun, spicy, adventurous and sweet all rolled into one magical pirate ship.

I didn’t really feel like this book advanced the plot much. For a book with a grumpy, touch-her-and-die vampire and her pirate selkie girlfriend it was somewhat boring.

The story took too long, I just wasn't invested at all and began to hate the book
I mean, it's Katee Robert and sapphic pirates/selkies/vampires, I'm not NOT going to like it. I still don't really get how the world works but whatever.
