so so so so good! did you say lesbian pirates with one of them being a vampire and one being a selkie? yes pleaseeee!

it was so fun to read and i can’t wait to pick up the final installment when it’s out, i loved lizzie’s growth and maeve finding herself again.

Listened to the audiobook. I was a little lost since it's been awhile since I read the first book in the series. It would have helped with a little explanation on what was going on. Author assumes you remember who everyone is and what's going on. One nitpick I had...the voice the narrator used to switch between characters was grating/annoying.
Hard to get invested in the characters because I felt we were supposed to already know who they were. Not sure I'll continue on with any others in this world. I may have to give up on Katee Robert since this is another one that didn't capture my attention enough to make me love it.

Book 1 was great - but the characters really fell off in this book for me.

If you’re looking for sapphic Pirates of the Caribbean adventure vibes, look no further! This book continues the story of Lizzie, who was a villain character in Hunt on Dark Waters (but not the main villain. The main villain is the System).

I really enjoyed seeing Lizzie and Maeve’s relationship develop, and Lizzie had a ton of character development throughout this book. Her family story has ties to Katee’s other vampire books, but you won’t need to have read those to enjoy this story. It’s a very fun swashbuckle-y pirate story and I hope the series continues.
slow-paced

This is genuinely one of those books you can tell the author is just having fun writing. I had fun reading simply because of the utter enthusiasm I can just tell Robert had here. It wasn’t all smut, it wasn’t all adventure, it was a good balance with characters I came to care about. This series probably doesn’t pay her bills the way the dark olympus does but I love it and the characters even more. I hope she continues to love this little side series, and I hope more people can learn to just love a fun romp rather than expecting the next Great Classic every time they start a book.
