This review applies to the entire series.

Too fast, too many characters, not enough time. There's so many ideas here that he could have done 300 issues, and I don't think I would have minded. A bit too focused on pat psychology, but also admirably, Remender provides zero easy answers. The art reminded me a lot of JRjr and in the good way. Lots of great kinetic movement. Wish it was just a bit better

The series finale brings all the characters to their respective story resolutions. The chaotic timelines were entertaining and quite impressive in how the creators executed them. The art is gorgeous. The only problem I've had is that I am not sure if I actually liked any of the characters. Also looking at how Fear Agent concluded, you can see the similarities in how the arcs resolved. It seems like Black Science is the evolution of a common theme in Remender's writing. A good read nonetheless.

It took awhile, but I finally managed to finish the concluding arc of Black Science and it left me with mix emotions.

The first issue of this series is still one of the best first issues of any comic series. It builds a beautiful premise focused on a single character. The gorgeous art by Matteo Scalera pulls in the reader and promises a journey of true imagination. For the most part, the series as lived up to the promise of that first issue. There were some missteps along the way, but the series kept building and growing. It truly seemed like it was heading towards a satisfying conclusion built on the growth of these characters. Instead, the series ended in a nihilistic fashion. I admit, I'm starting to like that particular final issue more as I think about it and Grant's journey. The build up to that final moment was issue was hamfisted and - at times - boring. Pia and Nate were both sidelined in the final battle despite their development and unique opportunities they provided.

Overall, it was a satisfying journey and a comic series I will enthusiastically recommend - just one that I found frustrating in the final stretch.

So here's another series that I read over the course of about 8 years. I guess I was probably hoping to find cheap copies of the graphic novels and it took forever? I'm not sure why this happens, but here we are. I don't feel like I missed too much by stretching it out, though I remember being really confused somewhere around the middle.

I really enjoyed these last 2 graphic novels and the ending was pretty amazing, though a little less detailed than I thought it would be. Love the art, the creativity and the characters.

A really fun series with some seriously incredible art, but the story itself - while a fun ride - left me feeling just a little bit underwhelmed in the end. Your choices matter. But your choices don't really matter because every choice creates a new reality anyhow. And even if your choices really do matter, you're still doomed to repeat your mistakes because you're a slave to your nature. Unless you choose differently, of course. But even if you do choose differently, don't worry because in another time-line you didn't. Everything happens. Good times.
