The cover made me a little hesitant to start it because books  ith a similar style tend to be pretentious or awkward or just kinda boring but this was none of them.
The setting is very cool, and the characters are the kind that you can't help but root for. Theres so many interesting sub-plots and although the mystery part of the book is short, the bringing back justice part is longer and pretty well delevoped. I enjoyed it alot .
I have mixed feelings about the romance, while I completely understand what she liked about guy, his reasons for liking her for most of the story are pretty shallow 😭. Like she's so cool yes as a reader I absolutely love her but the way she was around him he could have only been falling for a charming pretty girl ; there was nothing else there for him to know until much later. But by the end I love thier relationship it makes alot of sense and they're very cute.
I would highly recommend this book no matter what you're in the mood for reading I think it would be a good read.

I liked the plot but the romance was kind of bad and I found the writing a little cringy. Overall would recommend if you want a fun and quick mystery with a strong female lead.

I loved this book! The story alternates between two characters - Ruby and Peter (or Guy) - and is set in the 1920s in Chicago. Ruby has the ability to read minds and Peter has the ability to shapeshift. Ruby uses her talent to murder men who prey on women and children and Peter uses his ability to perform his own autopsies after hours in the morgue. The two meet and work together to discover who's behind the corruption in City Hall.

*thank you netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review*

wow I really loved this book so much. it was such a fun read, fast paced, glamorous and the atmosphere was amazing. I love the 1920's Chicago setting so mach.

I love Ruby so much, she's such an interesting character is what she is right or wrong? idk. the love interest, Guy, I love him so much. I don't think that I've ever meet a character like him before.

the language that was used in the book kind of through me off a bit but I think that is because I'm not used to it.

Overall I love Murder for the Modern Girl and would definably recommend it, especially if you are a fan of 'The Diviners" and "Stalking Jack the Ripper"
