Very brief uncomplicated plot. Characters peaked my interest enough to continue reading the series.

A decent short story, I will try a full book in the series because I can't wait for author's next book. I've read and loved [b:Before We Were Yours|32148570|Before We Were Yours|Lisa Wingate|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1498910914s/32148570.jpg|52786185].

This was an... irritatingly short read, though I am not sure if it was the book, or if it was me. I finished the book and nothing seemed to have really happened.

Or books about mindfulness and gratefulness and such aren’t really my type?

The book itself (writing, editing & etc) were great though, no annoying typos and the words flowed easy. (Perhaps that’s why this was a quick read?)

Elizabeth works as a 911 operator. One night she was distracted by things going on in her own life and when a call came in about a missing child she felt she didn't respond the way she should have. It really affected her with nightmares and constant doubt and uncertainty. She travels to the outer banks with her mother. They are going to try and "rescue" Aunt Sandy from herself. They get caught in a hurricane and are forced to stay longer than planned. It is a touching story of family and how important they can be.

It took me a bit to warm up to the characters and the story, but once I did it drew me in completely. I adored the family bonds and the little seaside shop, and I wish it hadn't ended so soon! This was my first book by Lisa Wingate and I'll definitely try to pick up some of her other works in the future :)
