I feel utterly wrecked!!
emotional inspiring reflective medium-paced

What a fantastic book. I was nervous to start reading East Of Eden because I'm always intimidated by classics. Now this book isn't particularly old compared to a lot of books that are considered classics, so it makes sense that I found it more accessible than some, but I still think its writing is more modern than one would expect for a book published in 1952.

The prose was lovely and it was very easy to picture the setting of the story. I loved all the characters, Cathy was my favourite in the first half and Lee was my favourite in the second half. Lee was also my favourite overall, he had such a rich and interesting back story and I loved seeing the way he changed over time.

I just love books that span generations this way and tell such a complete and personal story. You really feel immersed and personally involved with the lives of the characters.

This is a book I can't wait to revisit, and I'm so glad I got to read it for the first time with a great group of people as part of a read along!
