1 hour 30 minutes - Patrick Ness is one of my all-time favourite authors and this book was certainly brilliantly written. I love the characters and the lives they lead feel so realistic and immersive, and combined with the more abstract perspective of the ghost, made for an emotional and reflective story. I would have liked it better if the two perspectives were more intertwined, I think that would have made for a more interesting conclusion, but the ending as it was was written intentionally to reflect the title very well.

Patrick Ness is just so GOOD. This is written gorgeously and it goes fast— I read it in basically two sittings. It may have been the speed I read it or how invested I was in Adam, but I never really connected with the Faun storyline and I think the book could have done without it. But man, the rest of this! I got very teary throughout— I am always so impressed with Ness’ ability to create these protagonists who resonate so deeply in my heart.

Overall, a great read. My only issue was that there were two perspectives, which weren't as connected as I thought they should be.
This story takes place over one day but didn't feel constrained due to flashbacks and ruminations of the main character.
