So disappointed! The first few chapters were a bit boring, but at least they were about people that were undoubtedly noteworthy. Halfway through it just turned into "cool people Nick Offerman likes." So subjective. So pretentious.

Good book, love Offerman’s bravado in his voice and the excitement he has around his hero’s. Some points slower going as I did not know all the “characters”, but well done.

DID NOT FINISH: 35%

Finding it really hard to feel any sort of pride in being American right now, despite the excellent writing and great humor in this book. Maybe I’ll pick it up again when the country isn’t on fire.

Nick Offerman, as a person and as the writer of this book, is an unexpected delight.

listened to the book, fun because Offerman reads it.

This book is great.

While I disagree with Offerman on a few minor points, this is the second book of his that I've read because he is, in my opinion, a man of deep and carful thought with admirable priorities and ambitions for himself, his country, and his fellow human beings. I can highly recommend this book to anyone as well as its predecessor "Paddle your own canoe."

Never thought I'd say this, but there's a bit too much Nick Offerman in here. I wished many of the chapters had more substance on their subjects instead of him.

I loved that Nick Offerman chose to research and interview people whose gumption he admired. The range of people featured was fantastic. He combined his research from heavy biographies (say like those written by Chernow) with his own humor and anecdotes. This was not a typical celebrity memoir, and for that I’m grateful. I highly recommend this book, especially the audio version narrated by the author.
