I love TJR’s book. I cried at the last couple pages thinking Victoria was dead, but then she survived!! Hope they have the life they deserve.

Was this a young adult novel?! The writing was simple and unremarkable. The love affair was obvious and corny from the first moment we met Vanessa. I also thought she was kind of a lame lesbian trope - "I like cars", and wore slacks and a button down on a date (gasp!). Joan was boring and undeveloped - she was brilliant and perfect in everyway: an amazing piano player, a faultless aunt/ replacement mother while having one of the most intense jobs in the world... The astronaut story line was such a small portion of the book and the scenes in the control room played out exactly like every popular NASA story we've seen lately. In the last pages I was like - does the author have the balls to write the risky ending? No, no she didn't.
