emotional medium-paced

I feel like the character development was good, but the plot was disjointed and quite frankly a bit boring?

- I didn’t love the characters. I didn’t really connect with Joan or Vanessa and their love story.
- I was also really confused by all of the technical stuff. I know Reid wanted it to be accurate but like there were points where I couldn’t even figure out what was going on. Because of that, it was hard for me to measure the significance of the situation.
The scenes with Frances really got to me. Knowing that Joan was the only one who took care of her niece, but that taking care of her niece would require sacrificing her own dreams, that was tough.

It took me a bit to get truly invested in this book, however, by the end I was hooked. Loved the relationship between Joan and Frances.
