Rounded down from a 3.5. I had high expectations as TJR is one of my favorite authors, but this one fell flat for me. I wanted more time in space and the mission. Just when the story was getting good, it would flash back in time. I loved Joan’s relationship with Frances. The last 10-15% made up for the middle.

“Atmosphere" was such an engaging read that I didn’t even notice when I had already reached 40%. The story flows so naturally and delicately that it kept me hooked until the very end.
At times, since I had watched For All Mankind (Apple TV), my mind wandered back to scenes from the show. Not because this book is a copy (it’s definitely not) but because they briefly explore similar themes. I think this affected my reading experience a little, but it never diminished the power of the narrative.
Joan’s relationship with her sister touched on very sensitive parts of me, and her words felt deeply meaningful. The way Taylor writes about love is beautiful and subtle, without ever needing to rely on anything other than genuine emotion.
The ending was breathtaking and left me in tears. This was my second experience with Taylor Jenkins Reid, and once again, I fell in love. She truly knows how to write stories that embrace the reader’s heart.
