I really, really liked this book. When I first finished it, I was sad that it was so short, but looking back on it, the length is perfect. There are, of course, outdated ideals presented in this book. I would highly recommend those who don't particularly read classics to read this from length and language alone, as for me personally, it was quite easy to understand.

2 - this is my second Steinbeck novel and I was hopeful that maybe this one would have had a better ending. boy was I wrong. why, oh, why does Steinbeck have to kill off the person so close to the main character. needless to say, not a life-changing book for me, however, it was a short and easy read

The ending was actually quite unexpected, I liked the dark twist, however the beginning was very very slow and started in a confusing place

This was ruined for me by knowing the major plot twist :(
