I had to read this back in high school. I’d say out of all the stuff we were forced to read I didn’t hate this one. 

It’s no “To Kill a Mockingbird” but it’s definitely better than the others I had to read.

Made me sad because of the realities of people being treated like nut jobs because there was no support back then.

I was irked that Curly's wife remains unnamed throughout the book, but the book overall had good visuals, and an interesting ending.

It was just an okay book for me. It was a bit slow in the beginning and I wasn't sure exactly where the plot was headed. I think the one thing that saved the book for me was that it was a short and quick read. If it was any longer I probably would've gotten bored with it.
