Ah, this is difficult. I should have loved this. I wanted to love this so much. But unfortunately, I didn't. I did love the middle part with the puzzle, I basically flew through that. But the first 40% were really hard to get through and although the second half got better, I didn't feel much. I think this was my biggest issue with the book. I really liked the premise, the topics discussed here, the bi representation. I liked how media and the life of a person who suddenly becomes famous is depicted. And I understand that the protagonist is an unlikable character on purpose. I even liked that she had flaws and made mistakes (even though I got annoyed when she didn't learn from them at all). But at the same time she has issues with feelings and shuts them out completely, so I really had trouble to care for her story and her cause. Because I didn't feel anything. I didn't hate it, I just didn't love it either, so my rating is somewhere in the middle.

This book was unlike any other plot I’ve read before. It was sci-fi in its components but felt intensely realistic in its illuminations of human society’s potential reaction to unprecedented global events. The main character felt like a half-reflection of author Hank Green and his own ideas in becoming semi-famous through the internet, but was also clearly different because of a number of identity factors. Just as the main character decides what to do with her soap box of fame, this book is a look into what Hank really believes and wants people to take away from his existence as an influential person (who can make money off of a book solely because he authored it). While neither the exposition or ending of the plot were particularly satisfying to me, the progression of discoveries with the Carls, the side characters, and the internal monologue of the protagonist were really interesting and made for an enjoyable read

AHHHHHHHHHH! Djdjencirnskakeigncn
Pardon that bit of keysmash, I couldn't contain my excitement. This was so good, insightful, deep, troubling, hopeful, beautiful, and so many other words that can be used to describe humans.

This is one of my favourite books and this is my third re-read. I listened to the audiobook which is so well done and I found it just as gripping as reading it on paper. The world building is fascinating, I love the characters and the plot is so much fun. I've only read the sequel once but I also loved it so I'm making that my next audiobook.
