This is a 3.5, for me. Honestly, I could not understand the MC!!!!!! I think I will have to give this one a read instead of listening. I need to take all of that poetic waxing at my own pace. His story was a small part of the overall story, though. If I was able to wrap my head around what he was trying to convey, it would likely be a four star read.

White Nights exudes a relatively more mysterious and subtly romantic atmosphere compared to the melancholic tone found in the works of Dostoevsky that I read, although I don’t really want to count this book as a romantic book.
My two favorite parts of the book were how the story first begins with the endless beauty of the city and is portrayed in a pessimistic way at the end, and how similar the story told at the very beginning of the story and our main character and Nastenka's story.
In conclusion, I enjoyed the book. Nastenka was a well-written character in my opinion, although everyone says otherwise :”) .
