T. Kingfisher is one of the only authors that can make me feel uneasy... and make me want to clean my whole apartment with alcohol from top to bottom

I’ve seen plenty of books that claim they’re gothic novels and not live up to the name but this retelling of the Fall of the House of Usher truly lives up to the creeping dread and atmospheric horror which a gothic novel should. Couldn’t recommend this read more for the stunning descriptions and the characters that jump off the page. The house itself even is a character.
