This book did the hard part: it crossed the finish line. So many books mess this up, that successfully doing it is an achievement. So , bravo!
The writing was pretty good, especially considering it wasn't the original author.
It was amusing enough, with its literary license. I just don't think it was as good as the original book in the series because that largely drew it's humor from making fun of literature aimed at children. There were few meta jokes in this.
It's main problem is that Bastille is a two note character, she's more complex than a one note character, who solves most of her problems with her fist.

Not as gripping as I wanted it to be. But it has been a while since reading book 5. I could tell the change of voice but it worked because this volume was written by Bastille and not Alcatraz. Still a fun book.
I chuckled a bit. It’s such a funny concept and so they can do such random things with the writing. The story felt slow/short for some reason. The ending came too fast. While the moral of the story was a bit gratuitous it was also sweet. “Sometimes the curse you see as your biggest flaw can also be your greatest advantage.”
Thanks for the adventure, you Smedry clan. ❤️

A long waited final to the Evil Librarians. Sadly (or luckily) I don't quite remember how much more I liked the other. But it felt how I remembered Evil Librarians books to be - silly premise, chuckle worthy humor and meta commentary.
