This was a hard book to get through as someone who is married to the love of their life and terrified of ever losing them. 10/10 no notes.
Page turning tear jerker
A book about grief, living your life, love and family. Not great literature but a very readable bit of chic lit.

This book started out very depressing and sad, but I was so happy to see the character development of Lydia. The book did turn itself around and I loved the story that emerged.
Good east read. Good book for the beach or by the pool.
I felt as if the beginning of the book was a bit slow paced, but the more I reflect on it, I know that it needed time to develop the story. It is beautiful how Lydia grows as a character. I was surprised that Kris was in the book for a few chapters, because I thought he was going to play more of a role in the story. He was important for Lydia to keep her life going, never forgetting about Freddie. Her final dream where she said goodbye to him, it really seemed that she had a small bit of closure. I would read the book again. I thought while it seemed a bit rushed, Jonah's homecoming was perfect. A cliché, but beautiful ending.
It's a 3.5 for me. I really liked how she wrapped it up but know others don't.
Lydia and Freddie are high school sweethearts. They’ve been married for a few years and on her 28th birthday, Freddie goes to pick up his best friend, Jonah before heading to the restaurant to celebrate. Unfortunately, there was an accident and Freddie dies, Jonah escapes with a minor injury. Lydia is sent into a tailspin as she mourns the loss of her husband. Her doctor puts her in a drug trial to help with her grief. She takes the pills, but instead of sleeping, when she takes them she wakes up in an alternate universe where Freddy is alive. At first, she spends lots of time with Freddy, but she soon discovers not everything in this alternate universe is perfect. She feels torn between the 2 worlds and needs to make a choice.
This book started off really really slow for me, and by that I mean that I was uninterested at first and it took me over a week to read the first 100 pages. However, I completely changed my view and opinion of it after that. The story itself was great at explaining the stages of grief and I felt my heart breaking right along with Lydia. Therefore, this book turned around and I’m glad I finished it. All of the ‘Asleep’ chapters with Freddie tugged at my heart strings and made me want to hug my own significant other a little tighter. The reason I didn’t give this book the 5 stars that others did, was simply because I felt the beginning was slow and honestly, I was so so hoping that Jonah and Lydia wouldn’t end up together at the end…But that’s basically what happened and I was so disappointed - I wanted and hoped for something different and unexpected. But that’s okay, because otherwise I found that I really enjoyed it.
Wow. This book is everything. I love it. The grief, the love, the anger, and the joy. Josie Silver gets it. What an amazing story. Spectacular <3
RATING: 3.75 Stars
This book was overall a heartbreaking, well written read about the life of a woman who has lost someone incredibly important to her, an immeasurable loss that she has to learn to grieve and cope with in her own way. There were moments that I teared up, that I was frustrated in her other world with characters, and that I wished that somehow she would find the strength to get over this hurdle life threw at her. My heart broke for Lydia.
At moments, the book did feel slow and a little drawn out, however, the ending was so special (just what it needed to be) that I had to bump it up to almost 4 stars. Overall, it was an emotional, yet slow book about lose and grief. The other world made the book so much more interesting and there were moments that I was simply curious to know how she would navigate both worlds and be able to pick one.
