Really just not for me

This book is beautiful. I related so much to Lydia. If I went through something like that, I know I’d run away. I’m also an engaged young woman and if my fiancé passed, I’d do anything to spend more time with him no matter the cost. I also have a niece that is one of the happiest parts of my life.

I don’t think it’s the most well written book I’ve ever read, but if it was, I wouldn’t relate to it nearly as much as I’m not a well written story myself.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF’d for a second time after getting much further 🫣 I just found this so boring. Freddie is like…..not that loveable? The author makes him out to be this jock who’s supposed to be endearing but I found it pretty annoying that he had to make at least 2 comments about wanting sex in every chapter he was in and he would give lydia a gift and then say something obnoxious like “now can I get back to watching doctor who?” Like??? Also I know who she’s going to end up with and it just sounds soooooooo stupid. I really can’t get behind that kind of trope in a romance. It’s so unrealistic and weird honestly :/

Made me sad, would revist

This boooook. Okay, I expected to like it a bit better because ODID, duh. But no, I think it’s between a 3.5-4. I loved the characters, they were funny, complex, repeatable and likeable. But, I felt back and forth a couple times on the story. It’s so hard with a story like this because the main character has to go through a sad time, and that time was a longgg time, as it would be in real life! So yes, it was accurate, but I found it so hard to get through. Putting myself in her shoes, I really struggled to make it through and started to find it repetitive. I always thought it would end up with her and Jonah, but then it kept not happening. Then I was excited for Kris, but then Croatia happened? That was a bit confusing and choppy. Also, how it ended with Freddie!! How!! I can’t believe he made the decision. It’s so layered like maybe the asleep life was to show her that things aren’t always perfect, sort of rose coloured glasses? Anyways. In the end I loved the ending, I loved the journey Lydia went on to find herself and I loved how her and Jonah came together.
