It felt like the book lacked plot and conflict until the last couple of chapters. There really wasn't anything propelling the story forward and it got boring. The ending was predictable from the first chapter and I finished the book feeling like I had wasted my time. It's a cute story concept, but poorly executed.

it’s a fine book I just didn’t really connect with it. honestly I’m such a mood reader if I read this at a different time I probably would have loved it, but it just didn’t hit for me. the story was sweet (if a little predictable), and it was a beautiful portrayal of grief. I think my expectations were probably a bit too high after one day in december.

Overall I enjoyed the book but it felt a little slow at times. The story was well written and I cared about the characters and what was happening. This was a very well done audiobook.

This was a unique book. I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it, but was bothered by the “ asleep” accounts of things. I think it could’ve been shorter and we could’ve gotten to the same ending with occasional dreams not huge, drawn out, (somewhat“controlled” , it seemed ) dream sequences. I saw the end coming and was pleased with it, but still left feeling strange overall about the book....
Enjoyed her first book more .

An easy read.

Just like in [b:One Day in December|38255337|One Day in December|Josie Silver|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1573862622l/38255337._SX50_.jpg|56132017], Josie Silver nails the warmth and empathy in this book. Lydia is so likeable and you just want to hug her and be her friend as she loses the love of her life. Silver does an excellent job of showing loss and grief in a respectful way while also showing the realistic bits of levity that occur during tragedy. Highly recommend!

I had a really hard time getting into this book. It never takes me a month to read a book. The only reason I finished the last half in two days is because I listened to the rest. This book starts off really slow. The last half was better but I’m not sure it was worth the read. I really wanted to love this book because everyone else seems to love it. Sorry. Not for me.

This book is not what I initially expected but it was so beautiful none the less. Lydia is such a beautiful character and watching her journey from the beginning of the book to the end you can see her development and find yourself rooting for her so hard. The supporting characters are all lovable and honestly each thing that happens to her makes the ending that much better. Even if you’ve never physically lost someone through death, this story is a powerful catalyst for understanding grief no matter what it looks like. This was one of my first reads after breaking up with my long term boyfriend and I found it to be such a poetic piece of therapy for me. I will no doubt go back to bookshelf and pick this one up whenever I need reminding that we can’t go back to past but become friends with the new person all that’s happened to us has shaped us to be. Definitely not a lighthearted cute read but thought provoking and beautiful anyways. It’s going to be a favourite !
