What kind of ending was that?!? Hoping this isn't how the series ends but can't find word on an eighth book and it has been almost two years since this one was published.
What a fucking cluster fuck. Slow, tedious and not the Dexter we know from the previous six novels or even the TV series. And WHAT THE FUCK WITH THE ASTOR PLOT LINE??? A murderess in training who suddenly wants to be an actress at 11 and gets picked up by a pedophile who happens to kill Rita ??? Ughhhhhh what was this shit
I'll be honest, it wasn't as much shocking ending as I expected. But nice lead up to the next one. There will be a next one, right? I liked how Dexter evolved in this book. Not necessarily for the better, but it was interesting to watch/read.
‘’Death is the mother of beauty.’’
I know what you are all thinking ‘’Whaaat 3 Dexter books in less than a year and she will also buy book 6 before the end of the year? Is she insane?’’…. 2 more books. Yeet yeet bitch.
I always thought that this was the last book because it was called Final Cut but then Dexter Is Dead came out and I was confused. Yes I finally read the summary and now I get it. I have like 1 braincell okay.
‘’He liked me. He really liked me.’’
“Liked you, liked you?” Magnus buried his grin in the cat’s fur. “Sorry. Are we twelve now?
Same energy?
Dexter’s dumb ass was thinking that boi was gay when it was extremely obvious that he is a pedo. The moment he interacted with the kids I was like ‘pedophile’. Am I supposed to believe that he couldn’t figure it out? To be completely honest, he is braindead in this book.
This should have been Dexter the moment… oh fuck I forgot his name….Robert talked to Ashtor:

Dexter feels a lot of things now… cool I guess. That is the reason why I lowkey hated the show after they introduced Hannah. I’m fine... Fucking Hannah, garbage bitch... I just hope the ending isn’t as bad as the tv show’s.

Great addition to the series! The writing is witty and intriguing as always. The author leaves you wondering what will happen to Dexter and company in the next book. Dexter is one of my all-time favorite characters. I highly recommend the series to anyone who loves Police dramas or murder mysteries!
It took me a long time to get into this and I put it down for months. When I picked it up again in the new year I realised what it was that annoyed me about these books; it is the over-winded descriptions for EVERYTHING which is there to fluff up the semi-ok story rather than set the scene and that makes it so tedious to read!
So the story, it was ok and to be honest that and the ending (even if predictable) were what I gave stars for. I found the dumbness of Dexter to be really annoying, I get the impression the author was trying to make Dexter appear more human by making him so stupid but it was just irritating, because it was so blatantly obvious who the perpetrator was from quite early on. Even throwing in murders by a different person didn't change that.
The next book I'm reading is the final Dexter book...clearly I'm a glutton for punishment but I really hate not finishing a series and this book ended on a slight cliff hanger so I want to know how it ends I suppose!

One of the things that has drawn me to the character of Dexter is that while he is a monster, he has a glimmer of redemption in the Harry code. His loyalty to Debra shows he has a glimmer of humanity hidden behind the mask. All of that is gone in this latest book. I hate this Dexter, and I am ready for him to get his comeuppance.

Should probably change the name of the title to "Dexter Drops the Ball", but seriously, this was the best one yet!
