Sweet middle grade graphic novel about a girl, Snapdragon, who strikes up a friendship with the town "witch". Snapdragon learns that the town witch is a nice old woman named Jacks who cares for animals and sells skeletons from roadkill. This inspires an interest in animals in Snapdragon and Jacks agrees to let Snapdragon be her helper. The overall message is a good one for kids and adults a like: be yourself.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The story overall has a nice pace to it. The characters were well developed along with the world building. I just wished we could have gotten a plot with more stakes in it. This book feels like it is the first book (origin story) in a series.

I love this book like my soul needed it. This is literally one of the best books I’ve ever read. Woah. I mean… what?! PLEASE I’d do anything to read this again for the first time! Um first of all, the kids talk about gender and it’s so casual but also shows the weight of it in a way that’s so comforting. Also, I literally cried at the flashback of Jacks racing. I mean if you know you know. I wish I knew what to say to convince you to go pick this up now! I love everything about this and I wish I got this same feeling from every book I read. Also, I read this in one sitting and I was not putting it down. I am not lying when I say I feel stupid for giving any other books 5 stars… like none of those compare to this, NOT EVEN CLOSE! READ IMMEDIATELY!!
