If you dabble in this subgenre of a subgenre of a subgenre of a subgenre, (new adult romance with a touch of thriller and erotic elements) this is kinda as good as it gets.
GREAT characters with even better chemistry. Scenes that make the leads vulnerable without weakening them. A dramatic plot that feels raw rather than over-the-top, which is rare for the erotic subgenre in romance. I struggle with new adult because, well, I've aged out of it, but this one worked.

Romanticizing toxic, trauma riddled men isn't super cute. I wanted to like this more, but it really left an awful taste in my mouth.

Overall, I enjoyed ugly love I found the first half of the book to be slow, but it picked up rather quickly, and I thoroughly enjoyed the last half and the ending. This is the first book I’ve picked up in a while and I think it is exactly what I needed to get back into reading.

This is the first time I read through a book in one sitting in a long time. At first I thought it was just gonna be porn the entire time but then it turned out to have such a beautiful message. I was absolutely gripped by the elements of mystery and could not put it down.
