Garrett and Hannah
Hockey romance
Tutoring

I love this book! It's my first one by this author and I'm excited for more!!

Garrett is the hockey captain, failing his classes until he manages to persuade Hannah to tutor him.

Both of these characters have past trauma that they help each other to work through.

I feel like this book is great at opening up the world for the future books and I'm so excited for more!

What in the watt pad was this?

Most other people have covered the fact that Garrett was creepy and wouldn’t relent and that Hannah’s character is inconsistent but there is a lot more to this as well.

Why would Hannah be a music major if her family is broke? You never tend to go with your heart when your family can’t make any money. It’s just not super plausible both that they’d be supportive of a music career and also not have enough cash to travel and need a reverse mortgage.

It’s deeply convenient that she had a whole month before the showcase to prepare a song but it’s fine because she’s a song writer and her academic advisor is like ‘yaaaas girl go rogue idc I believe’. What?!

Also deeply convenient that they got back together IMMEDIATELY after the trust was received.
Side note- how can you make an entire Ivy League campus know not to go near someone? Also isn’t that the same controlling behavior his dad used on him…? Interesting. Spend several chapters on this only for him to do the same exact thing (it’s good for me, so it’s good for you!).

Also weirdly (in)convenient that the guy from high school is not only at this prestige Ivy League school, but also that he’s into hockey! How many people from one school ever really get into the same Ivy… and also not realize it? Ivy League selections from public high schools are a big deal, I’m pretty sure I can remember the handful of people who got into them and went and that was over 10 years ago.

Also Logan can get his own storyline, he doesn’t need to be wildly obsessed with his best friends girlfriend for the better part of a year to be the lead in the second book. Weird bridge there.

Safe to say I won’t continue this series but I do respect the people that liked this book. I just can’t turn my brain off enough not to think of the above, plus the things mentioned in another one star review that I fully agree with.

Elle Kennedy knocked it out of the park with this book. I absolutely love how she took something that tears a lot of woman apart and made it into something better and I commend her for it. The story of Garrett and Hannah is such a special one and i couldn’t help but route for them from the start. Definitely going to read more of these off campus’s series books.
