Again, not bad.
The magic and craziness that these kids get in to is still going strong. They can get into some funny shenanigans.
This book had an interesting perspective to the mental health of Aunt Lucy, and it fully explained why people thought she was crazy. And as such, we got further information regarding the dangerous of the "Guide".
Another good one. Interesting magical characters, continued world building (around the Fae world and the different creatures there in). Great character development in the kids continue as well.

i kept picturing lucinda as a cross between the really adorable grandma out of charlie and the chocolate factory 2005 [the one not married to grandpa joe] and the old woman out of over the garden wall who eats turtles, which.............. they are two VERY different grandmas

LOVED IT.
Whereas the second book was more of a lighthearted nudge into magical creature shenanigans, the third one introduces a decades-old mystery that could last us well into the last two books. Most importantly, we are now aware of the very serious consequences facing the kids if their interaction with the fairies is prolonged.
Many more threads are coming together to form the overarching story and I am excited to see where it leads.
Also, I love that the Grace kids aren't stereotypically well-behaved ones like in many fantasy series for children. They are more interesting and easier to relate to since they can be hotheaded, they often get in trouble, and they make a lot of mistakes. Their story is also grounded by divorce, a very real problem that sets a contrasting backdrop against their magical adventures, and again, makes these kids easier to relate to, especially for children looking for escapism in literature.

Buku kedua untuk Book Club Indonesia Read-A-Thon! Membaca serial The Spiderwick Chronicles memang cepat karena setiap jilidnya kurang dari 150 halaman. Seharusnya dalam sehari aku sudah mampu menghabiskan langsung kelima bukunya, akan tetapi aku juga masih punya kewajiban penting yang sifatnya lebih penting.
Di buku ketiga ini, anak-anak Grace semakin penasaran apa yang sebenarnya terjadi di Spiderwick Estate. Syukurlah masih ada keturunan Spiderwick yang masih hidup & bisa mereka tanyai meskipun kini sedang dirawat di rumah sakit jiwa.
Bibi Lucinda namanya. Dan kepada anak-anak Grace ia berpesan agar keluarga Grace segera pindah dari Spiderwick Estate karena bahaya yang akan mereka hadapi. Apalagi anak-anak Grace kedapatan memiliki Buku Panduan milik Arthur Spiderwick yang sedang diincat oleh para makhluk ajaib nan magis.
Anak-anak Grace tidak menyerah begitu saja. Dengan penjelasan dari Bibi Lucinda & petunjuk yang mereka temukan di Spiderwick Estate, ternyata teka-teki menghilangnya Arthur Spiderwick mulai terbongkar. Namun sayangnya, di tengah pencarian, Jared Grace tertangkap oleh kawanan Elf & mereka tidak akan membebaskannya sampai kedua saudaranya memberikan buku tersebut kepada elf.
