Such a good book. Bob Lee Swagger, aka Bob the Nailer, America's most famous and infamous sniper, has retired to Arizona. He has a wife and a daughter, and he's happy.
Russ Pewtie, son of Bud Pewtie (from Dirty White Boys) tracks Bob down and asks to write a book about Bob's dad, Earl. Bob isn't interested at first, but then he discovers that maybe everything he thought he know about his dad's death is wrong.
As Bob Lee and Russ attempt to track down what happened in 1955, there are characters who don't want the past uncovered, and do their best to stop Bob Lee and Russ frmo uncovering the truth.
The story bounces back and forth between Earl's point of view in 1955 and Bob Lee's story in the present. There's a lot of action, a lot of mystery and, yes, some offensive language.

Unlike authors of most fiction involving guns and shooting, Hunter knows and understsnds firearms, shooting, reloading, and all things associated. It's a pleasure to read someething where I don't find myself groaning about mistakes and confusion on the topic.

Vintage Hunter, with evocative descriptions of hilbilly country, deep-rooted technical expertise in the arcana of sniper-dom and crackling, violent pace.
