Just when I'd given up hope of ever reading an interesting vampire book again!

The central vampire is monstrous - rapacious, voracious, foreign and familiar to human ways of interacting with the world, unstuck from mortal concerns by the flow of time. Really something special; I loved this one.

I really enjoyed this unique take on vampires. It was recognizable as a vampire tale but created its own boundaries of what they need, how they live and interact which I appreciate. Vampires don’t have to live within any boundaries since they don’t exist.

I loved the backdrop of Buenos Aires, Argentina. A city that is great for a vampire tale. I wish there was more of the city in it like Anne Rice made New Orleans a character in her book.
I felt there was a lot of time given to stories that didn’t necessarily move the narrative forward but I did enjoy the concept of 2 halves of the book for each to tell their full story.
