I really like Holly Jackson as a writer, so I knew I probably would like and connect on some level to this book. I was scared and sad which are two emotions I rarely feel and I’m glad that this book helped me connect with that part of myself even if the content was quite dark in order to get there.

I love it when the plot twists don't stop coming once they've started.

I've seen a lot of people talk about how they're bothered by the lack of multiple perspectives, since this is a thriller, but it did not bother me at all. I think it would have revealed too much about
Arthur's family's
plan, and let's be real, I don't think any of us want to get a closer look inside Oliver's brain than we already did.

Red is a wonderfully written character. Grief about a family member's death and the struggle to find closure about it because you don't know what happened, and the things you do don't make sense, really messes with your brain, and that's evident in Red.

You'd think that a book of which the majority takes place within the same square hundred feet would get bored, but it didn't. The tension that comes with being confined with six people in such a small space (with an active shooter watching  at all times) built up bit by bit and had a perfect climax.

To make a long story short, Jackson wrote great characters and a great story, with a gripping climax and a satisfying, albeit open, ending.

And, yes, I'm going to say it: even though bullying is not a justification for murder,
Oliver's
death was very satisfying.

“What if I said you were the right people, in the right place at exactly the right time.”

"This is turning into Lord of the Fucking Flies."

" 'Can we please remember who the real enemy is?’ he pleaded, voice breaking. ‘The guy outside with the fucking rifle. Not any of us.' "

✨ Book Review ✨

Five Survive by Holly Jackson

Format: Physical
Genre(s): Mystery/Thriller
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Eight Hours
Six Friends
One Sniper

Stuck in an RV ••• Will they all Survive?!

This book takes you on a rollercoaster that you CANNOT get off! To me, the book starts off slow (like the start of a rollercoaster going uphill) and then, with every twist and turn and new surprise, it was a straight nose-dive to the end. Like the book stated, EXACTLY Five Survive.

📚 Summary

This book is set over a course of 8 hours (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) with six friends traveling from Philadelphia to Gulf Shores for Spring Break. In between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., the RV comes to a halt when they had a flat tire. The friends changed the tire, got back in the RV, then CRACK! After crack after crack, all four tire were blown out. And CRACK! A sniper shooting out the gas tank and now, they are stuck.

They all hear a faint “Hello” and find a walkie talkie. “What if I said you were the right people, in the right place at exactly the right time…” This was not a random attack - it was planned. Someone in the RV knows something that the sniper wants - a secret. “You know who you are and you know what it is.” But what good is a secret if it’s told?

With tensions rising, the stakes are high … the sniper is getting impatient and so is everyone in the RV. They all will have choices to make: reveal their secrets in hopes that it’s THE secret or start to turn on each other. How bad could it get inside the RV?

The story was really great and enjoyable. However the first half of the book was slow, I did not enjoy the narrator as much as I enjoyed the story until reaching about 50% through

Esse livro foi feito especificamente pra um público alvo, então se o leitor for fora do público alvo, não vai achar tão interessante. Dito isso, como eu faço parte do público alvo, eu nem senti o tempo passar, muito bom
