It was so unbearably slow  šŸ˜’.  I almost gave up becase it seemed as if nothing was progressing a quarter into it. After
it's revealed that the signal is coming from someone inside the RV, it speeds up tho.
Red was an annoying character, and so was Maddy. However, i did come to appreciate their quirks once conflict arose. Maddy is still not redeemed from
siding with her brother, who obviously had problems, over Red.
Compared to AGGGTM tho, the book is lacking. šŸ«” a nice read by the end but not re-readble ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

When describing or reviewing this book I mostly think ā€œniceā€. Five Survive was a very nice book. The suspense was great, the character conflicts were nice, the twists were good, the build-up was cool, the representation of grief and adhd-like experiences of red was good. It wasnā€™t perfect - sometimes the repetition (although clearly purposeful) was  too much for me, some of the character relations couldā€™ve been more fleshed out, sometimes the pacing was a bit inconsistent - but it was a good, enjoyable, nice thriller.

I just didnā€™t want to put this book down, I needed to know what happened next! Filled with red herrings and clues dropped along the way, I had a fun time trying to figure out the culprits.

That being said, I was not a fan of Red as a character and didnā€™t feel connected to her at all. All of her forgetful, scatterbrained-ness didnā€™t seem to be helpful to building her as a character and seemed only to be used as plot mechanism more than anything else.
