Have you ever started a book you knew exactly how you were going to rate before even finishing it ? 🫠

🌸

Well, this is what happened and how I felt about this poetry book.

Honestly, I already knew it wasn't going to be something I would love before even buying it but the cover was pretty and, frankly, I find this kind of literature to be rather entertaining and easy to read.

If you are a beginner in English, go buy it, it might help you make the big jump that is starting reading books in another language than your native one πŸ˜‰

I cried, I laughed, I was uplifted and held and seen. There was so much within this book that resonated so beautifully. I love poetry, and I'm so thrilled to have found amanda, and I'm glad I read their words.

I enjoyed this collection! I would categorize it as inspirational poetry. It’s very digestible and to the point. I love queerness being represented in this way. Personally, I prefer poetry that challenges me a little more, with imagery, metaphor, etc. For example, I would have loved so much more imagery about the kingdom/world Lovelace starts to build using the fairytale language.

But, Lovelace certainly is an eloquent writer, and there were many moments/images in the book I felt connected to. I liked the repetition in form throughout, how the books each evolved on their own and with each other. Again, just wish they would have taken it even further!
