An incredibly thorough and well researched book. Rubenhold not only details the lives of the canonical five Ripper victims, but also paints a vivid picture of the grim realities of Victorian London. Intertwining the emotive stories of each victim whilst also examining the broader socio-economic factors of the time packs a real punch. The most powerful non-fiction I’ve read in a long time!

This one started really strong for me. I love biographies, and I thought these were important stories to hear. We often hear about the monsters who commit terrible crimes, but not always the victims. Hearing their stories is important. Unfortunately, I don't do well with books that have a lot of characters/people in them cause I can get lost. As the book progressed I often found myself mixing people up. Overall it was really good.
Amazing. Such a brilliant portrayal of the five victims and lit to learn about Victorian society.
