Too many storylines at the same time. Too much action (and I do not say that often) and not enough deaths. I know that's a terrible thing to say but when you have the final war at the end of 6 books some people have to die. I'm sorry but it's just not possible that all the characters survive a war like that I mean they lived through 6 wars because there was one in every book and I didn't complain because of course I do not want anyone to die but when you read the final book of a series like that with so much violence and blood and war you kinda prepare yourself for some deaths.
I love the story, as I did in every other book in this series There is much action so you never get bored and are forced to go on reading and there is much love so you have some things left for your heart.
As always I think Cassandra Clare herself did a great job writing this novel. I think the ones who read through it afterwards are to blame because someone should have told her about the crap she had done at some point where it just got too unrealistic.
Also another thing that totally sucked and really made me give the book one star less beside the facts above was that I got spoiled for The Infernal Devices series. I mean SERIOUSLY? I haven't read all three yet, just the first two and now I know so much I didn't want to know! I mean if you as an author decide to write two series which are somehow connected to each other, just have to damn make the hell sure that there are no spoilers in the books I mean you never know when someone decides to read the other series, no matter when they were published.

A satisfying ending to a great story. I love the shadowhunter universe.

Thank you Cassandra, for such a beautiful end to a beautiful series. I couldn't have asked for anything more from you. Truly the best series written .. ❤️

CASSANDRA CLARE I LOVE YOUR BOOKS but...... this one wasn't my favorite.

I really liked the book but I feel there was way too much hype around it and sadly I was let down a little. This book didn't make me laugh as much or cry as much. Don't get me wrong, the feels were there, but I was expecting more from the last book. I though it would have the same impact as The Clockwork Princess, but I was wrong.

HOWEVER, IT WAS A CASSANDRA CLARE BOOK SO IT AUTOMATICALLY WON OVER MY HEART!

I loved all the plot twists, the characters (especially Malcolm), and new realms!

The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the ending. I absolutely loved the part where Sebastian turned into Jonathan right before he died. That part literally brought me to tears! It was so sweet and I actually felt bad for the guy! Like before I read this book I was like, Sebastian must die! I don't care about anything else, I just want him to die. If I'm not mistaken, I wasn't the only one to have those feelings toward Sebastian. HOWEVER, WHEN THE TIME CAME FOR HIM TO DIE I ACTUALLY WANTED HIM TO LIVE SOMEHOW! ONLY CASSANDRA CLARE CAN TURN A CHARACTER THAT YOU WANT TO DIE WITH ALL YOUR HEART INTO SOMEONE YOU WANT TO LIVE!!!!!!

Now that I'm done with Sebastian/Jonathan, can we please touch base on the whole Simon thing!!!! OMG that was the second biggest plot twist for me! I did not see that coming. I was convinced that Simon was going to be killed or something and that Izzy was going to become a Iron Sister because of whatever happened to Simon, but NO! He gets his memories stolen so he doesn't remember the Shadow World at all and he goes back to being a human being!!!! My heart broke when he didn't recognize Clary!!!!!

My heart started to recover though when, again another plot twist, Magnus discovers that they can turn Simon into a Shadowhunter if he accepts the Ascension process! And he does! So eventually the gang will be back together because once Simon becomes a Shadowhunter Magnus can give him his memories back!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Cassie's writing and I can't wait for The Dark Artifices and The Last Hours trilogy! All I'm saying is that I like some of the earlier books better and maybe that is because I'm sad that we won't be hearing much about this group anymore...

I hope you all enjoyed the book as much or more than I did!

Happy readings, everyone!
