I never want to read another of this series... I am done.
Well, that was unnecessarily long.
I think half of this book could have been removed with no negative impact on the story. Because, really, the Los Angeles people were really just a set up for the NEXT SERIES. I mean, come on. And - surprise! - the characters and their relationships feel awfully familiar.
I guess I shouldn't rant so much, because I did read this willingly. And I'll admit, I did get sucked into some of the relationships, like Jace and Clary's. But there were still so. many. things. that bugged me. Like... a super villain who's a teenager who stymies an entire race of adults. And is only thwarted by a bunch of... teenagers
And, if you're gonna let a character sacrifice himself or herself, DON'T UNDO IT. Be brave, and commit to it. I'm looking at you, Simon. Poor guy gives up not just his vampireyness, but his memories of his time with the Shadowhunters, including his BFF LAS Clary, and you go and undo it because Isabelle is all hot and bothered for him. GAH!
Not sure if I will read the next series. Who am I kidding? I probably will.

A really fitting ending to the series. I am happy.
I'm also looking forward to the next series...am already liking the new characters.

I finally did it - I finished the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare and boy, what an ending!
As usual, I can’t say too much about this particular book without spoiling it for those who haven’t read the series and wish to. I will say that the fascinating tale of the Shadowhunters vs the ultimate evil comes to a conclusion in this book in an explosive showdown of which there is somewhat of a bittersweet feeling. It is war after all and people die. Even beloved characters. But I shan’t say more about that.
This final story in the series was one hell of an action-packed roller coaster ride with a satisfying ending, tragic deaths notwithstanding. I also really loved the original premise of the Heavenly Fire and how it worked in this book. Truly impressive.
And this story had the best villain ever. All in all, The City of Heavenly fire was a book with plenty of adventure, action and yes, heartbreak and I’m so glad stuck it out with this series.

and, finally, i have finished the series.
wow.
this particular book was hard to start, and the action didn't really catch my interest until the last third of the book.
the epilogue was art, though.
i'm glad that simon, the comedic relief sidekick best friend, had his role in the downfall of sebastian/jonathan.
speaking of, that one moment when the true jonathan morgenstern is alive kinda hurt.
it takes a special kind of author to drag me through six books of creepy incest and overused plots, but cassandra clare did it.
on to tda.

Omg I didn't want it to end. But I think this might be one of the best in the series! And after reading this I'm excited and looking forward even more so for The Dark Artifices!
SIXX STARSS. I just got reminded why Cassie is my fav author 🩷
un final conciso y un libro que despejó muchas dudas. Increíblemente hermoso, gracias Cassie, gracias por toda esta saga ♥️
