An intense fantasy-adventure graphic novel! It is reminiscent of fairy tales, filled with monsters, magic, and a monster hunter. But on top of all of that it has a bold protagonist who you’ll root for and love and cute cats and dogs. Cannot wait for the second book.

I loved the world that Rioux created. It didn't feel forced which I find in some recent graphic novels I've read. I love the monsters, the dog, the imp, and the layers of world building. I hope to see many more in this series in our public library (although, this was added in 2012 and there haven't been any more Rioux adds since then :( ).

This book is SO under the radar.
And undeservedly so.

It's got monster, cats, legends, a plucky hero, adorable dogs, and a creepy robot dude. The illustrations are totally effective and accessible, and I finished it wanting MORE. MORE about this world, MORE about these characters, MORE about the monsters, MORE MORE MORE!

I'm heartbroken that the second book hasn't come out yet.

I'm wondering if it was marketed inappropriately. My library currently shelves it in Young Adult (teen), but this will totally be nommed on by the [a:Kazu Kibuishi|27372|Kazu Kibuishi|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1311988001p2/27372.jpg]'s Amulet and [b:Giants Beware|12159923|Giants Beware!|Jorge Aguirre|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1317068387s/12159923.jpg|17130936] set. It could also be that cover. At first glance, it doesn't communicate the movement of the story, and looks more nichey than it is. And it might be the color work. For a tale this vibrant, the color choices are surprisingly monochromatic and muted.

It's a shame, really. I want this to break out. I NEED this to break out. Cuz I really want Rioux to tell MORE OF THIS STORY!

Good!

I like Siri, the urchin. I like the minor characters and I think they’re well written. Some of them only get a page or two and yet you get to know them completely.

This book is more setup but it's nice and has a good pace.
The adventure partnership is setup and the mysterious twine and monsters introduced. Everyone needs a McGuffin.

Thank you NetGalley and First Second Books for providing the ARC of "Cat's Cradle!"

First, I loved the storyline and the art is extremely cute. Everything is bright with catching colors to the eye. Suri is an amazing, witty character that you easily fall in love with. I enjoyed the world that Rioux built with the creatures and monster fighting! Overall, it was funny, thrilling, and warming read.

By the end, it kept me wanting more and excited for Suri's adventure in the next book!

Jo Rioux is a wonderful artist.
This children's story is sweet, fun and full of character. I do feel bad for the caitsints(?)

The facial expressions are great. The tone of the story feels jovial, yet spooky. It's a great sweet spot.

I can't wait to continue the story.
