Barbara Kingslover has created a masterpiece; a piece of literature, of art, that everyone needs to read. This is one kid’s tale of growing up in the midst of opioid desolation; it’s a story so dark, so ugly, and so gritty that it becomes beautiful at some point… putting a spotlight on class struggle and the exploitation of the poor working class, this is a classic novel. As a character states, “a good story doesn’t just copy life, it pushes back on it”…

Combine it with Dopesick and you’ll get an extra cinematic twist to this epic!!

I’ve never read a book with a voice quite like this. It is so incredibly human.
