This book made me cry. Not just misty eyes, I mean full on crying. The ending is heartbreaking, but it’s also beautiful in a way. As for the rest of the book, the stakes are high throughout, keeping you on the edge of your seat. The characters and the relationships between them grow in a beautiful and organic way.

ahhhhhh, the end was so perfect but also so emotional. nathan becoming a tree was honestly just very very poetic. tbh this book handles grief very realistically and really just rubs it in your face that gabriel is dead. i sobbed more than five times at the end, and i don't typically cry when reading books. this was the first time in my 21 years of life. like,, "wounded, not lost"?? yeah i sure was wounded after crying through three chapters straight. well played sally green
