While one of the better character studies I’ve read recently, this book was entirely too long.
I thought the ending was good and wrapped things up but it just took sooooo long to get there! Especially when the main plot point was introduced in the first few pages.

Excellent! What happens when you drop in on four hyper-academic and ultra-rich classics majors at a small northeastern liberal arts school? Well, you'll never guess. But Donna Tartt keeps the story plowing forward, foreshadowing in the most ominous of ways, yet keeping the reader deeply invested in these bonkers characters and their even more bonkers lives. I loved it.

I really enjoyed this and it was beautifully written, but i think I was expecting it to have a more meaningful, mind-blowing effect on me. I found the ending to be quite flat and cliche, which was disappointing after such a strong story and thrilling climax.

Suprisingly, i thought Julian’s character would be in the book a lot considering the synopsis but i realized he was there enough for the character/story to take place.
