How this book ended up on my TBR: I've had Sherlock Holmes books for years, and I've had this Audible collection for quite some time. I'd thought I'd read a whole lot of this work before, but I'm less convinced, as none of these stories sounded remotely familiar.

The stories in this collection are: A Scandal in Bohemia*, The Adventure of the Red-Headed League, A Case of Identity, The Boscombe Valley Mystery*, The Five Orange Pips, The Man with the Twisted Lip*, The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle*, The Adventure of the Speckled Band*, The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb, The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor*, The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet*, and The Adventure of the Copper Beeches.

Overall, I enjoyed listening to these mysteries. I put a little * next to the stories that I remember liking more than the others. (Also, quite a few cases of doing away with daughters who want to take their inheritance elsewhere, my goodness.) I think Sherlock Holmes comes across at times as an unlikeable fellow, but I was surprised at how he seemed to value Watson's inclusion. I know that Watson's presence was necessary for the stories to exist, but I guess I presumed Holmes would be more "how can you NOT see what I am seeing?" Even when he does go along those lines, at times, he sort of rightly assumes that Watson is not looking into the meaning of what he observes. (No shade; I would be useless here too.) Holmes's mind works differently, and as he mentioned at least once to Watson, he has way more experience and really gets into his cases.

Stephen Fry is, of course, an amazing narrator. I love his American accents. I also didn't know that there was another way to pronounce Lestrade's name, but here we are.

I am hooked on Sherlock Holmes! The stories are quick, intriguing, and so creative! Holmes's wit and intelligence is so sharp and fascinating to watch in action.

I adore the friendship between Watson and Holmes, too.

Great book, can't get enough of Holmes and Watson's Adventures

Always a great reread

I have always wanted to read Sherlock Holmes stories, and I was not disappointed. It took a little longer for me to read this book, but I also struggle reading books with older English. All of the stories were different and unique in their own way, and I was sometimes able to guess the culprit! Overall, it kept me on my toes and I am excited to read the stories that are left. Definitely will read again!

Will return to sherlock later
